humanity in motion

Newly inducted President Ian Coult (pictured left) is looking forward to an active year of fun and fellowship at Woolsack Rotary Club.
His priorities are to raise public awareness of Rotary in Godalming, to build on the excellent service work which our Club undertakes both locally and internationally, and to encourage younger members to join the Club.
Ian has chosen the Meath Epilepsy Trust, which is currently undergoing an extensive programme of improvements, as the Club’s preferred charity for the year and hopes to be involved in at least one major new project involving youngsters. Our International Committee will be funding the purchase of more Shelterboxes which are stocked for distribution to disaster areas, and Foundation will continue to work for the eradication of polio worldwide.
During 2007 and 2008, Woolsack members worked with helpers from Godalming United Church and the Whitmore Trust to pack four 40 foot long containers with resource materials and redundant furniture in good condition.
The items were obtained from schools in the Slough and Lewisham areas which have
been refitted with new furniture and equipment. These items would otherwise have
been sent to land-
The containers were transported via Felixstowe to Sierra Leone and Banjul in the Gambia where the contents were distributed to schools in great need of these items.

President Ian’s year got off to an early start on 16th July with the presentation of the Woolsack Rotary Club Shield to the winning primary school in the annual Godalming in Bloom competition.
The representatives of the Busbridge Infant School who received the award are Toby, Aidan and Isobel, three keen young gardeners who are pictured left with their garden instructor, Mr Towner (on the right), the Town Mayor, Paul Rivers (left), and Woolsack President Ian Coult (middle with shield).
Busbridge Infant School also won gold in the South and South East in Bloom School Grounds Competition.
We congratulate them on their success.
