The Meath Epilepsy Trust has been selected by President Ian Coult as the Club's preferred charity for 2008/9.
The Meath, based in Godalming, has been doing wonderful work with epilepsy sufferers for many years and is now undertaking major enhancements to its facilities at Westbrook so that residents will receive the best possible care.
Three local cancer charities were selected in 2007/2008:
The St. Luke’s cancer appeal, Guildford Undetected Tumour Screening (GUTS), and GRACE (a charity for patients with gynaecological cancer).
The Phyllis Tuckwell Hospice provides care for patients with cancer, motor neurone disease and other terminal illnesses.
Macmillan nurses offer information, care and support to cancer sufferers after initial diagnosis and at all stages of treatment.
Samson have commissioned and run a Centre which is used by sufferers from multiple sclerosis.
St. Luke’s cancer appeal, the Warehouse Christian Trust (comprising The Cellar and
Skillway), the Mudita Trust, the British Kidney Patients’ Association (BKPA), and
the Samaritans all received donations in 2003-
Please contact Godalming Woolsack if you are seeking a donation for a deserving charity. Although Committee Budgets are agreed at the beginning of the Rotary Year in June, the individual committees decide how their allocation of funds will be spent as the need arises throughout the Rotary year.

The charitable funds raised by Rotary go directly to named charities or to deserving individuals. There are no administrative expenses as Rotarians give their time for free. Other expenses are kept to a minimum as Members often subsidise events and use their contacts to obtain sponsorship and prizes.
Rotary members monitor recipients to ensure that all donations are spent as intended. Where a supported project is out of our area, a Rotary Club near that location oversees the use of the funds on our behalf.
