Can we help you?

Please contact Godalming Woolsack if you are seeking a donation for a deserving charity. Although Committee Budgets are agreed at the beginning of the Rotary Year in June, the individual committees decide how their allocation of funds will be spent as the need arises throughout the Rotary year.

Donation to Farnham-based Hospice

The Rotary Club of Godalming Woolsack has donated £4,500 to the Phyllis Tuckwell Hospice which provides care for patients with cancer, motor neurone disease and other terminal illnesses.

Past President Martin Harris chose the Farnham-based Hospice as his preferred charity for 2006/2007. A number of fund raising events were held during Martin’s year. These included a very successful Bill Posters jazz concert presented over two evenings in October 2006 at the Godalming Borough Hall.

The Hospice has decided to use the money to purchase a steam cleaner - an essential piece of equipment needed to maintain the high standards of hygiene for which the Hospice is renowned - and an IVAC pump for blood transfusions and drips.

The Chief executive of the Hospice has written to Woolsack expressing appreciation for the donation which “helps us to continue providing vital care”.

Rotary Charity Funds

The charitable funds raised by Rotary go directly to named charities or to deserving individuals. There are no administrative expenses as Rotarians give their time for free. Other expenses are kept to a minimum as Members often subsidise events and use their contacts to obtain sponsorship and prizes.

Rotary members monitor recipients to ensure that all donations are spent as intended. Where a supported project is out of our area, a Rotary Club near that location oversees the use of the funds on our behalf.
